Riley Ferguson has been named New Providence’s Union County Conference Female Athlete of the Week.
Ferguson, a junior, has been a dedicated sprinter on the girls track and field team since her freshman year.
Her career has not been without challenges. After a stellar freshman season, she had to battle through injuries and their attendant frustration during her sophomore year. However, in this junior year, Riley has returned to her best in a big way. At the last two meets of the season, Riley set new PR’s in the 200m (28.40) and the 400m, (1:04.02) along with running strong legs on the 4×400 relay. Riley’s grit, positivity, and team spirit have contributed to an excellent season for the Pioneer girls. She has grown into a leader of her team both on the track and off.
