New Providence boys track and field took first place overall while the girls placed fourth at the Union County Valley Conference Championships at Gov. Livingston High School. The boys team was crowned with 8 individual championship titles and one relay title. The girls team captured two individual championship titles.
The Pioneers boys team was led by Mark Pasquariello, who won the 800 M Run in 1:57.3 and the 3200 M Run in 10:12.61, Johnny Kovacs placed first in 100 M Dash with a time of 11:20; Robert Zeto placed first in 400 M Hurdles in 57.41, Yazan Awad placed first in High Jump with a jump of 5-03, Cheney Price placed first in Pole Vault clearing 11-00, Yugou Tsutsumi placed first in shot put with a throw of 42.11.50, and Timothy DiGuglielmo placed first in Javelin with a throw of 153-05. Also, the 4 X 400 M Relay team of Johnny Kovacs, Jack Peterson, Raven Santos and Robert Zeto placed first in 3:33.83
