Nate Rayan has been named Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s Union County Conference Boys Athlete of the Week
Nate has left it all on the track this indoor season, and has become the fastest hurdler in the state, and one of the fastest in the nation..
After posting a time of 7.94 in the 55 hurdles as a junior last year, Nate took his training and preparation to a new level this winter. Nate is undefeated this season, highlights by wins at the State Group 3 Championships, the North Jersey, Sec. 2 Group 3 Championships, and his 7.30 at the Varsity Classic earlier this month at the NY Armory was the fastest time in the country at the time. It’s now No. 2.
Nate’s work ethic and positive approach has been an inspiration to others. It is apt for SPFHS to have a great hurdler considering the former World Record holder in the 110 hurdles and Super Bowl Champion, Renaldo Nehemiah, is the only faster 55 M hurdler in SPFHS history. Nate is also an outstanding student athlete with a 3.5 unweighted GPA and is considering a variety of collegiate options.
