After several days of waiting, Kent Place, No. 12 in the NJ.com Top 20, capped off its sixth consecutive Union County Tournament championship on Wednesday afternoon at the Donald Van Blake Tennis Facility in Plainfield.

Kent Place took home three individual titles en-route to the title as the Dragons tallied 88 points. No. 20 Summit took second with 72 points, Westfield came in third with 68, New Providence had 49 for fourth and Oak Knoll rounded out the top five with 25.

All three wins for Kent Place came in match tiebreakers, and Summit was the runner-up despite not having a flight champ

At first singles, Kent Place’s second-seeded Keira Kapur defeated top-seeded Sophie Bohner of Summit in a thrilling final, 7-6(1), 3-6, (10-3), a year after Bohner beat Kapur in the same final by an similar score.

Sophie Capone also won her second title at second singles for the Dragons as the top-seeded standout edged third-seeded Lauren Roszak of Westfield, 4-6, 6-3, (10-6) in another marathon match.

In the first doubles final, Kent Place’s second-seeded pair of Emma Geppel and Sophie Bremm recorded a 5-7, 6-3, (10-7) win over top-seeded Molly Feldman and Callie Shroff of Summit.

New Providence’s top-seeded Gianna Culver also won the third singles flight as she downed second-seeded Kira Bhatia from Summit, 6-2, 6-3, while Westfield’s second-seeded second doubles duo of Natalie Debowski and Julissa Mijaleski notched a 7-6(1), 3-6, (10-8) win against Kent Place’s top-seeded tandem of Priyanka Somaiya and Mira Lalani.

Westfield’s Bianca Vesuna (first singles), Summit’s Shirazi (second singles), Kent Place’s Caroline Hand (third singles), Westfield’s alexa Bloch and Cadence Stanek (first doubles) and Summit’s Audrey Pisarra and Ava Wallach (second doubles) all took third place at their respective positions as well.
