Jayleen Barrett is Elizabeth’s Union County Conference Female Athlete of the Week
Barrett, senior captain of the Lady Minutemen Wrestling team, recently captured her second Union County title in the 165lb weight class, solidifying her place as one of the top wrestlers in the area. She was also named the Outstanding Wrestler for the heavyweights at the Union County Tournament, a testament to her skill and dominance on the mat. Currently holding a 15-6 record, Jayleen is making a strong run in the postseason.
Last year, she placed 3rd at the North 2 Regional Tournament, earning her spot at the state championship tournament. As a two-time UCT champion, Jayleen has committed to NJCU, where she will continue to compete in the 165lb weight class. With the North 2 Regional Tournament approaching, she’s determined to secure another trip to Atlantic City in the coming weeks.
