Damon Ippolito admits he wasn’t overly confident he could advance to the finals during the Union County Tournament on Saturday.
However, the 6-1, 228-pound senior proved that uncertainty was unwarranted. Ippolito, seeded third, pinned top-seeded Griffin Keats of Rahway at 1:57 to take first in the 285-pound class at the UCT finals in Union. Additionally, Ippolito was named the Outstanding Wrestler in the upper weights.
