Gabriel Rodriguez has been chosen as Union’s Union County Conference Boys Athlete of the Week
Rodruguez, who recently accepted a scholarship to run track at Rutgers University, finished sixth in the 800-mete run this past Sunday at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions at Ocean Breeze on Staten Island. Earlier this season he ran 1:53.80, which is the fourth fastest time in NJ and No. 19 in the country this season.
Last month, Rodriguez won the 800 meter run and was second in the 400 at the State Group 4 Championships, and he won the 400 and 800 at both the Union County Championships and the North Jersey, Section 2 Group 4 Championships. Last spring, Rodriguez ran on the 4×400 relay team that finished first at the Meet of Champions.
