Extra time had been a term synonymous with the Union County Tournament boys lacrosse final the past two seasons.
It looked as though that trend may continue into the 2017 season as, with less than 90 seconds remaining, second-seeded Westfield was holding onto a one-goal lead and top-seeded Summit was holding onto possession.
