Isiah Byrd – Abraham Clark High School: Isiah is the leading rusher in the state. He rushed for 405 yards vs. Bernards. He has totaled 1000+ rushing yards so far in 2016 and has scored 12 touchdowns.
Trinity Garay – Rahway High School: Trinity is a junior and plays forward for Rahway High School. She has started on varsity since she was a freshman. She plays club soccer for PDA Gunners ECNL, which is the top youth girls’ soccer league in the country. Rahway Coach Javier Velasco said “Trinity is the best high school or club female soccer player I ever coached.†So far this season she has scored 20 goals and has seven assists. Trinity is also the captain of the team and is a role model on and off the soccer field, a true team player. She will graduate in 2018 from Union County Technical High School, which is a highly prestigious high school in Scotch Plains, NJ where all courses are taught at the honors level. She was recently nominated for the National Honors Society and has a 3.8 GPA as of the end of her sophomore year.
Zahir Wilder – Rahway High School: Zahir Wilder is off to an excellent season thus far. The senior quarterback has led his team to a 4-1 record already eclipsing last year’s win total. Zahir has thrown for 1047 yards with a nearly 60% completion percentage. He has 13 touchdown passes and only three interceptions on the season. More importantly, Zahir has become a better leader on and off the field according to head coach, Brian Russo. “Zahir is a stong-armed playmaker who is striving to become a more poised and accurate quarterback while inside and out of the pocket. Wilder has spread the ball to a handful of different playmakers this season forcing defenses to respect a very dangerous Indian offense.
AJ Kopacz – Oratory Prep: AJ is a two-time all conference selection in soccer and has helped lead this year’s edition of the OP Varsity to an 8-3-1 record. AJ has scored 11 goals and has five assists this season including the game winner in OT vs. Rahway. The junior has started every soccer game since his freshman year and is also a varsity letter winner in basketball.
