AJ Altobelli is Union Catholic’s Union County Conference Male Athlete of the Week.
Altobelli, a junior point guard, has been the catalyst all season for the Vikings, and his playmaking and leadership skills have ignited Union Catholic to one of the greatest seasons in school history.
With Altobelli masterfully running the offense and leading a strong defensive effort, the Vikings made history last Sunday at Kean University by defeating 2-time defending champion Roselle Catholic, 66-56, to win the Union County Championship for the first time in the 87-year history of the tournament!
Altobelli displayed his great all-round skills during the Union County Tournament, averaging 11.6 points, 9.3 assists and 5 steals per game in the three wins for UC.
For the season, Altobelli is averaging 12.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 2.8 steals per game for the 19-6 Vikings, who are ranked No. 15 in the state and have won 14 of their last 15 games..
