Jason Alvarez is Elizabeth’s Union County Conference Male Athlete of the Week
Alvarez, a senior, has made an outstanding impact on the winter track and field team this season, asserting his dominance across multiple events.
He posted a remarkable 7.53 in the 55-meter-high hurdles, securing a spot among the top five times in New Jersey this season and claiming the Union County Individual Championship title in the event on January 22, 2025.
In the 400m, Jason delivered an exceptional performance, winning the Union County Championship with a personal best of 49.36. This time ranks as the seventh-fastest in New Jersey this season and stands as the second-fastest in Union County Indoor Championships history. Beyond his individual triumphs, Jason played a key role in leading Minutemen to victory at the Union County Relay Championship on January 4, 2025, earning well-deserved team MVP honors.
A student at Frank J. Cicarell High School, Jason excels both academically and athletically, maintaining a 4.4 GPA as an Honors student, while drawing attention from Division 1 track and field programs.
