Junior outside hitter

Abby Kim is Governor Livingston’s Union County Conference Female Athlete of the Week

Last week, Kim, a junior outside hitter, had 30 kills and 19 digs in 2 games as GL won at Elizabeth and at home over Kent Place.  Abby is one of our team captains, our primary scorer and one of our top defenders.  We have especially relied on Abby’s scoring and defense while another of our captains senior Eva Sottosanti is out with an ankle injury.

Last week ,Abby passed two milestones that few players ever reach – she tallied her 500th career kill and 300th career dig. She passed the GL school record for kills several weeks ago and is second in GL history for digs. With half of the season and her senior year ahead of her, Abby will surely push those numbers to lofty heights.

Abby has paced the Highlanders to their best start in school history.  GL is currently 12-2, with the only losses coming at the hands of a highly ranked Union Catholic team.  The team hopes to have another chance to play Union Catholic in the upcoming county tournament and will then try to get back to the Group 2 state final for the third year in a row.
