Nate Rayan of Scotch Plains-Fanwood, one of the top hurdlers in the country and one of the fastest in NJ history, made his eagerly anticipated college decision on Wednesday.
The winner is…….Clemson!!!
Rayan, who signed his NLI at his school, also took official visits to Penn State, Bucknell, and George Mason and mentioned Rutgers, Tennessee, and Purdue as schools he also considered.
Here is an in depth story we did during the indoor season on Rayan
Rayan, who came into the season with modest PR in the 55 hurdles of 7.94, had meteoric rise this past indoor season as he became the fastest hurdler in the nation and one of the best in state history!!!
Rayan, who ran under 7.50 11 times this season, produced his greatest highlight of the season when he blasted a 7.14, the fastest time in the nation for the season and No. 3 all-time in NJ history, when he finished first at the Eastern States Championship at the NY Armory.
The only two NJ hurdlers to ever go faster than Rayan are Cory Poole of East Orange (7.07 in 2017) and Sincere Rhea of St. Augustine (7.10 in 2019).
Rayan also ran 7.23 through 55 meters en route to a runner-up finish at the Nike National Championships in 7.79 at the NY Armory. Rayan also finished first in the hurdles at the Union County Championships, the North Jersey, Section 2 Group 3 Championships, the State Group 3 Championships, and at the Varsity Classic.
