Peyton Hollis is Union Catholic’s Union County Conference Girls Athlete of the Week.
Hollis, who played soccer last year, has taken the state by storm in her first season of cross-country this fall.
The junior is undefeated this season, and she has smashed two course records as the front-runner on the No. 1 ranked team in the state
Hollis added to her torrid rookie season on the trails on Oct. 20 when she edged Lindsay Hausman of Kent Place to win the Union County title in 17:49, which obliterated the course record at Warinanco Park by 37 seconds. Hollis also broke the course record when she ran 17:52 to win the Watchung Division race at the Union County Conference Championships at Oak Ridge Park, and finished first at the Roxbury Invitational, the Bowdoin Park Classic, and the Shore Coaches Invitational.
Hollis, who is an Honor Roll student and an Student Ambassador at Union Catholic, will be back in action this Saturday she she leads the charge for the heavily favored Vikings in the State Non-Public A Championship race at Holmdel Park.
