The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School bowling team placed 2nd in the Group 3, Section 2 tournament at Jersey Lanes in Linden on Friday. The strong finish means that the team now advances to the State Team Championships on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at Bowlero Lanes in North Brunswick.
The team was led Matt Reynolds, who bowled a 299 high game — just one pin short of perfection — and became the Individual Sectional Champion. Reynolds had the high series of the day with a 736.
Coach Ryan Goracy said he had high hopes for a good season but that team had surpassed even his expectation.
“Advancing is an accomplishment, Now we are playing with house money,” Goracy told TAPintoSPF. “Matt Reynolds has been our anchor bowler, and we have relied on him in pressure situations. He’s getting better all the time.”
